differences of Iran gilsonite with American Gilsonite

A water base drilling fluid comprising water and Turkey gilsonite, said iran gilsonite being prepared by reacting at a temperature between 210 softening point of at least 300 water soluble base compound for a period of time sufficient to achieve special gilsonite wherein the percent by weight of the components of said mixture is:

Gilsonite 55-60%

Lignite 15-25%

Sodium sulfite 15-20%

Water soluble base compound 5-10%.

American and Turkish Gilsonite have clear physical distinctions as well as uses. Usually known for its great purity and glossy, jet-black look, American Gilsonite is especially appealing to companies that need a polished and aesthetically pleasing product, including those in ink manufacture and high-performance coatings. Conversely, Turkish Gilsonite may have a somewhat lower carbon content and a less glossy finish, which might influence its use in some specific uses. Its performance is still strong in conventional applications like asphalt modification and waterproofing, hence this does not lessen its value in these areas.

Further important variations are found in Gilsonite’s geological formation and extraction techniques in various areas. Often found in big, well-defined veins that enable simpler extraction methods, American Gilsonite is produced consistently and of good quality. Turkish Gilsonite deposits, on the other hand, are usually more scattered and vary in composition; so, more careful processing is needed to reach the intended quality. This volatility can affect the price and availability of Turkish Gilsonite on the worldwide market, hence American Gilsonite is a more constant but maybe more costly choice for sectors needing particular qualities.
